31. Luella Florence4 MCFADDEN (Francis Irvin5, Livingstone Martin6, Alexander7, Andrew8, Elias9) was born in nr.Athens, Menard Co., Illinois 7 Nov 1906.

Florence was born in the family home which was a tenant house on the Canterbury farm. This home is located about 2.0 miles southeast of Athens, Illinois, about 0.2 miles east of the west boundary of section 18, and about 0.2 miles south of the north boundary of section 18. It is in the northwest quarter of section 18, Athens South Township, T17N, R5&6W, in Menard County, Illinois. The house was still standing in the 1980's and is two story brick house and very sturdy and well kept in the 1980's.

Luella died 8 Oct 1986 in Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois, at 79 years of age. OBITUARY OF FLORENCE COOPER from Springfield (Illinois) Journal-Register, October 10, 1986.

Florence Cooper

Florence Cooper, 70, of rural Riverton, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Medical Center. Mrs. Cooper was born on Nov. 7, 1906, in Cantrall, the daughter of Francis Irvin and Louella Jane Council McFadden. She married Carl Tolbert Cooper in 1925, and he preceded her in death in 1985. Her parents, one brother, one sister, and one great-grandson also preceded her in death. She was a member of Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church, charter member of Sangamon County Home Extension, and a former member of Buffalo Women's Club. Surviving are three daughters, Louise Oller and Mary Moody, both of rural Riverton, Elinor Drake of El Paso; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, John McFadden of rural Riverton; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bisch Memorial Home, with the Rev. John Buzza officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Fullenwider Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Her body was interred 11 Oct 1986 in Mechanicsburg, Sangamon Co., Illinois, Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

She married Carl Tolbert COOPER in Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 16 Sep 1925. Carl and Florence were married in the manse of the Westminster Presbyterian Church at 533 S. Walnut, Springfield, Illinois. Witnesses were probably people at the manse. There was no wedding reception or wedding trip, and they probably had to go home to do chores after the ceremony. She was a student in abt 2.3mi.SE of Athens, Illinois, 1913. School: Sugar Point School. Sugar Point school was located at a point one-eighth mile east of the west boundary line of Section 18 and 0.42 mile south of the north boundary line of Section 18, in the Northwest Quarter of Section 18, Athens South Township, T17N, R5&6W, Menard County, Illinois. This school is on the southwest side of the intersection of three roads. John McFadden said that at recess the children used to play at the creek near the school.

She emigrated, 1917. Point of origin: AthensSoTwp, Menard Co.,Illinois. Florence's family lived in Menard County until 1917 when they moved to the Bell farm in Section 24, Williams Township, Sangamon County, Illinois. The house in which they lived is just northeast of the "T" intersection at the center of Section 24. This is the house which Louise Oller lived in during the 1950's to 1980's.

She was a student in Williams Twp, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 1920. School: Prairie School. Florence graduated from eighth grade at Prairie School a country school which was located at the northwest corner of an intersection in Section 13 or Section 24 of Williams Township, Sangamon County, Illinois.

She graduated from high school in Williamsville, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 1924. School: Williamsville High School. Florence graduated from Williamsville High School in 1924 or 1925. She had earned a scholarship for college, but did not make use of it.

At 19 years of age Luella became the mother of Dorothy Louise COOPER in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois, 29 Sep 1926. At 24 years of age Luella became the mother of Elinor Jane COOPER in Springfield, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 10 Jul 1931. At 30 years of age Luella became the mother of Mary Alice COOPER in Springfield, Sangamon, Illinois, 17 Jan 1937. Luella was listed as a member of a church in Buffalo Hart, Sangamon Co., Illinois, 10 Apr 1949. Florence became a member of Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church by letter from Williamsville, Illinois.

She resided in R. R., Riverton, Sangamon Co., Illinois 7 Oct 1986.
